For an introduction to my Genius hour, I used Powtoon to make a short animated movie. This website allows you to create your own short animated movie with various effects, sounds and voice overs. This tool is very easy to use, and has a lot of FREE features, which would be great for a classroom! It is a great way for kids to create projects that are more engaging and fun to create than just a presentation
I have shared this animation as a way to better explain what exactly a Genius Hour project is. This animation gives you short definition of Genius Hour, as well as the rules and rubric that I will be following throughout this process. This will help any viewers get a better understanding of the project I will be completing throughout this project.
In the future, in my own future classroom, I think that I could easily utilize Powtoon. Throughout my block I used a few Powtoons created by other teachers as a way to teach a grade four political and physical regions. Its a great way to give a presentation without you just standing in front of the class. I also think that this could be used for any subject as a way to allow students to give presentations in a way that may be more fun for them, and cause less presentation anxiety.
